Notes for Contributors


Submission of Mss
Submissions to the Journal of Faculty of Letters will be accepted for publication on condition that it meets the criteria of scientific adequacy, appropriateness for the scope of the journal, and technique of presentation. If the manuscript does not fall within the scope of the Journal or is not in accordance the manuscript criteria of JFL, it will be rejected. Submission of an article to JFL is taken to imply that it has not previously been published, and has not been submitted for publication elsewhere. The articles may be submitted in Turkish, English, French, or German.

Articles submitted should not exceed 15 pages (approximately 6000 words).

Three identical copies of the manuscript should be submitted to the editor. Author(s) should not include their names on two of the copies so as to ensure blind readings from referees. An electronic copy should also be submitted to e-dergi@hacettepe.edu.tr. Please attach to every submission a covering letter confirming that the article is original and that the article is not currently being considered for publication by any other journal. The letter should contain full name of the author(s) with current affiliation and full address/phone/GSM/fax/email details. Manuscripts which have been rejected will not be returned to the author.

When submitting a manuscript, "Article Template" found in this page should be used (see below, Format of Mss). Manuscripts should comply with APA 5 (American Psychological Association, 5th edition) guidelines. (For APA 5 guidelines, please visit http://www.apastyle.org/).

Writers are solely responsible for the content of their articles. Upon acceptance of an article for publication, the author(s) are requested to assign copyright to the publisher. This copyright covers exclusive rights of publication on printed or electronic media, including the World Wide Web. Author(s) should sign the Copyright Form and send it (regular mail or fax) to the editor. Contributors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce any material in which they do not own copyright, to be used in both print and electronic media.
Following rights are reserved to the author:

1. All proprietary rights, other than copyright, such as patent right.

2. The right to make limited reproduction and distribution of the article, or portion of the article, for the purpose of instruction or promotion.

3. The right to use all or portions of the article in oral presentations, and in inclusion in books or anthologies authored or edited by the author(s) or others, on condition that JFL is cited.

Format of Mss

Manuscripts submitted to the Journal should be on a standard A4 (19,5X27,5mm) page layout, with one side of the paper containing written material. The submission should be formatted using the JFL template. Articles should be submitted in "Times New Roman" font, fontsize set to 10, and single spaced, as in the template below. Please click.



I. Title

Original title should be centered, fontsize 12, bold, initials capitalized. Articles in Turkish, French, and German should have the English translation of the title below the original title. Translated title should be centered, 10 pts., not bold. The title of the article should be short and informative. Word count for the article should not exceed 12.

Name(s) of the author(s) should be placed under the title, surname(s) in capitals, centered and 10 pts.

Title of the author, respective institution, and the author's email should be in the footnotes, 9 pts.

II. Abstract and Key words

All articles should contain an abstract, both in English and in Turkish. If the article is in Turkish, "Öz," and if in any other language, "Abstract" should come first. The abstract of the article should contain the aim, scope, method, and results in no less than 350, and not exceeding 450 words. All articles should contain 3 to 5 key words, in English and Turkish. Abstract and key words should be in 9 pts.

III. Headings and subheadings

Primary headings should be 11 points, in bold, not italicized. Secondary headings should be 10 points, bold and italicized. Tertiary headings should be 10 points and italicized, and quaternary headings 10 points, italicized, and indented. All initial letters should be capitalized in all headings.

IV. Footnotes and References

Please follow APA 5 (American Psychological Association) guidelines for citations and reference lists. Footnotes should be signalled by superscript numbers in the main text and listed at the end of each page. Footnotes should be prepared in 8 point font size, and References section should be in 9 point fonts.

V. Illustrations

All illustrations should have short descriptive captions to be placed under the illustration, and should be numbered consecutively. In case from a different source , citation information should be provided following the caption.

VI. Tables

Tables should appear within the main text, with numbers and descriptive caption indicated above the table. All initial letters of the caption should be capitalized. The space to both sides of the table should be kept blank. Table caption should be in 9 point font size, and should be a single line.

Offprints

Upon publication of their article, author(s) will receive a complimentary copy of the journal and 10 gratis offprints of their article.
